Yeah, PHPBB is dodgy like that sometimes.  Generally speaking, it's a really solid forum, and its really good for handling heavy loads of traffic, such as all of the post-monkeys here.  Not that anyone will be really interested, but if you look on the phpbb site, I'm pretty sure they have a faq with common problems that they have.
