I think that was to indicate that none of the cassie videos will be canon. It was also the Creators reminding everyone that they have 'Cassie rights' and know more about her than anyone else.

Though I do agree that it seemed inconsistent with what we previously knew...

Her Dad basically her Dad says her mom and him are ok and to send him a secret message back so they can meet in a week.
